The Mercersburg Theology was a unique movement in American Reformed theology that flourished in the 1840s and 1850s from the little German Reformed seminary in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania.  Its two chief architects were John Williamson Nevin (1803-1886) and Philip Schaff (1819-1893), later to become renowned as the 19th century’s leading church historian.

Brad blogs at The Sword and the Ploughshare, and he is the General Editor of the new Mystical Presence volume just published.
